This is one cool snack : Deep fried soy filet façon « corn dog » (The recipe is totally vegan , although the cooking process ressembles the corn dog recipe a lot).
Ingredients :
- Soy Filet (or Tofu steak)
- (1 cup) Cereal flour
- (1 cup) Soy milk
- (4 tsp) Baking powder
- (1 cup) Corn meal
- Cayenne pepper (or Paprika powder)
- (1/4 tsp) Salt & (1/8 tsp) pepper
- (1/4 cup) Sugar
- (2 tbsp) Coconul oil
- Honey Mustard sauce : honey , mustard , white onions , chives , seasalt , worchestersire sauce
Recipe :
- Mix the flour , baking powder, corn meal , salt , pepper , sugar and cayenne pepper together
- Add the soy milk and stir until you have a thick mixture (mine was not thick enough which explains the thin coat)
- Preheat the coconut oil in a deep saucepan over medium heat
- Cut the soy filet in small pieces
- Dip each piece into the previous mixture
- Fry the soy pieces for about 3 minutes and then drain them on a paper towel
- Mix your honey , mustard and worchestersire sauce together and add the chopped onions and chive at last
