About Me

Hello , my name is Ingrid , I’m 26 years old and I am from Paris, France. I have been diagnosed with Crohn’s disease in 2012. I can say that I struggle with it on a daily basis since it is a lot to take care of, but to be honest I will never complain because there is way worse than having 2 to 3 big flare-ups a year and just some targeted pain the rest of the time. It took me a while to create this blog because I wanted to do it right, but my main goal is to try to connect with people who have and do not have CD by sharing nice content that would hopefully help and inspire.

How will I help ?

MY personal experience with Crohn led me to be a vegan (I used to be a semi-vegan = 8 months out of a 12/year) and since I love to cook , this blog will mainly be focused around the different meals I allow myself to eat and cook for my family and friends while trying to follow our very own Do’s & Don’ts list that I plan to share with you later on. NoI am not an expert when it comes to Crohn and what we can and cannot eat, but I’m supporting the healthy lifestyle 100%.

For those who are not familiar with this disease, let’s explain :

Crohn’s disease is an inflammatory bowel disease (it belongs to the IBD group) which manifests itself as a chronic inflammatory condition of the gastrointestinal tract. Symptoms may vary from patient to patient but the disease can affect any part of the gastrointestinal tract from the mouth to the colon. Crohn is not the only disease that has those symptoms so it is not to be confused with other Inflammatory Bowel Diseases.

I personally have all of the symptoms and this is why I really take care of myself as much as I can (at least I really started to 2 years ago). I plan to share what I use and do on a weekly/daily basis to stay healthy. Even though we never really have control over those things, as my doctors told me and probably told a lot of you , the more you pay attention to yourself the more you can better yourself , especially if on a scale of 1 to 5 you are at a 2 or a 3, it tends to get easier.

Crohn is a chronic disease which means that patients will likely experience periods when the disease flares up and causes horrific pain while at other times they might be in remission which means that the body will show no symptoms at all. In my case, every time I have a flare-up I end up in the hospital because my small body can’t handle that much pain.

PS : I am not a doctor, therefore what I use for myself might not be good for everyone. Please make sure to get the informations necessary prior to using any of the recipes on this blog if you never tried it before.

{July 9th 2017 UPDATE : I’m in remission now and only have to deal with a less agressive form of IBD}.
